The Oromia Irrigation and Pastoral Development Bureau (OIPDB) is conducting a comprehensive performance review of irrigation development projects being implemented across the Oromia Region under the PACT Program, in collaboration with the government and development partners.
The review session is being led by Eng. Alamu Ragasa, Deputy Head of the Bureau, and brings together zonal government officials, contractors, irrigation experts, and other key stakeholders involved in the implementation of the projects.
The primary objective of the review is to evaluate the progress achieved to date, identify strengths and implementation challenges, propose practical solutions, and build a shared understanding on future priorities. Particular emphasis is being placed on ensuring that all projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with the required quality standards.
Currently, 12 irrigation development projects are under implementation through the PACT Program, with a total investment of ETB 1,425,954,774.97. Upon completion, these projects are expected to directly benefit 4,809 households and expand irrigation coverage to approximately 1,964 hectares of agricultural land. The projects are anticipated to make a significant contribution to increasing agricultural productivity, strengthening food security, and improving the livelihoods of rural communities across the region.
